SOAP: Ephesians 6:11

The events in the book of Daniel began in 605 B.C.

In 605 B.C. the most powerful nation on earth was Babylon.

The King of Babylon was Nebuchadnezzar.

Babylon is about 500 miles from Israel.

Daniel 1:2

There is one God, the God of the Israelites.

God is in control of the circumstances on this earth.

Daniel connects the Doctrine of the Sovereignty of God.

No matter how bad things get here in our culture, God still cares about how we act and the choices we make.

Daniel 1:3-5

3 Components to this Babylonian culture of indoctrination:

1. Change the name of the Israelites.

2. Be immersed in the language and literature of Babylonians

3. Eat only Babylonian food.

 They decided to honor God and now God is honoring them.

Faith is lived out in the ordinary.

Whenever we choose to honor God, God always honors us and rewards us in eternity.
